School Day

Kindly note that Bigland Green operates a ‘No Mobile’ policy on the school premises including the playground.  No buggies for children attending the school (unless for medical needs); no junk food at home time, and no gadgets with smart technology.
Thank you for your co-operation and support.  Check out this link for more information.

School Times

School times are 9.00 AM to 3.30 PM – Monday to Friday.

However, pupils in Years 4, 5 and 6 start at 8:00 AM Tuesday to Friday for ‘Bright Minds’ which is an additional support session for all pupils.  Pupils who join the school without a good grasp of the English language are also expected to attend ‘Life Skills’ sessions that take place 8:00 to 8:45 AM Tuesday to Friday (This is for Years 1 to 6).  The school also plans for ‘Learning Minds’ for Years 1, 2 and 3 as additional support from 3:30 to 4:30 on selected days.

Parents are very welcome in the school playground from 8.45 AM with their children using the main entrance to the school. Pupils should never be left unsupervised in the playground and always attend school in full school uniform. The morning break is 10.20 AM to 10.35 PM. Younger children have an afternoon break.

Lunchtime

  • Nursery & Reception 11.45 AM to 1.00 PM
  • Years 1 & 2 12.00 noon to 1.00 PM
  • Years 3, 4, 5 & 6 12.30 PM to 1.30 PM

Each class has a dedicated Lunch Assistant to ensure their well-being at lunchtime. Pupils can have healthy school meal which is cooked in the premises or have a healthy pack lunch. The school discourages home-dinner as the skills learnt during lunchtime are vital for pupils’ development, learning and well-being.

Lunch Assistants are trained for basic first-aid support. The school has a number of fully qualified first-aiders who are deployed across the school.

Home-time

  • All classes finish school at 3:30 PM

Nursery, Reception and Year 1 to Year 4 are collected from their classrooms.  Years 5 and 6 are collected from the main playground.  Parents and carers are requested to be patient as the safety and security of pupils always come first.

Nursery and Reception parents are requested to familiarise and adhere to the guidance attached to this link.

Parents are requested to inform the school office by 3:00PM if a pupil is being collected by someone who normally does not collect them from school.  Parents need to provide a password if they have someone else collecting their child. If you are collecting a pupil who you do not normally collect then kindly expect a delay if the information needs to be verified.

Year 5 & 6 parents who wants their child to go home by themselves must talk to the Classteacher and then provide the school with a written consent.
